Road Cycling Championships
Get set for more cycling action in January when Ballarat and Buninyong
host Australia's premier cycling event, the 2010 Scody Australian Open
Road Cycling Championships.
This prestigious event will run from Wednesday 6 -- Sunday 10 January.
Council recently secured a deal which will see the city host the Australian
Open Road Cycling Championships for the next six years. Under the
agreement, the Championships will for the first time in 2010 combine all
three national road disciplines - the Time Trial, Road Race and Criterium.
The Championships are an opportunity to see a world class field of
Olympic and Commonwealth Games medallists, and Australia's Tour de
France stars in action.
In addition to the gruelling 10.2km Buninyong course, Ballarat's CBD will
also host a twilight program on Thursday 7 January. The Criterium will be
held on Sturt St giving spectators the opportunity to get up close to the

around the Buninyong circuit on Sunday 10 January, with the voice of

ambassadors and marshals to ensure quality 'local knowledge' is shared
