ANZAC Day 2010
ANZAC Day is one of Australia's most important national occasions.
Commemoration of ANZAC Day commenced in 1916 to mark the
anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New
Zealand forces during WWI.
ANZAC Day is an opportunity for us to remember those who sacrificed
their life and to reflect and pay tribute to those who selflessly gave their
all to make our country what it is today.
To coincide with ANZAC Day, 50 sailors from HMAS Ballarat will visit
Ballarat and will participate in a variety of activities over the weekend,
including marching in the ANZAC Day Parade.
The Ballarat Commemorative Days Committee will conduct a series of
Services in Ballarat on Sunday 25 April including a Dawn Service, Church
Service and the ANZAC Day Parade followed by a Commemorative
Service. Services will also be held in Sebastopol and Buninyong.
