Australia Day celebrations
Planning is again well underway for Ballarat's 2011 Australia Day celebrations.
Residents are invited to celebrate Australia Day with family and friends on
Wednesday 26 January on the foreshore of Lake Wendouree.
The line up will include favourites such as the City of Ballarat Municipal Brass
Band and X's and O's, a successful local folk band, as well as Azio Acoustic,
and many of the multicultural entertainment groups from around Ballarat.
Head down to Lake Wendouree late in the day and enjoy entertainment
from a range of local performers and musicians. A stage will be set up
near the McDonald Bandstand with entertainment starting from 5pm until
just before the fireworks start.
Food stalls and Australia Day merchandise will be available.
The 3BA Fireworks Spectacular over Lake Wendouree promises to be extra
special this year, with water returning to the Lake for the first time in many
years. The fireworks will commence at dusk.
Residents are reminded that Lake Wendouree and the foreshore precinct
will again be classified as a dry zone after 3pm; therefore no alcohol will
be allowed to be carried or consumed in the area. This classification will
be policed throughout the night.
