New plan to take Airport
Council has started a review of the current Ballarat Aerodrome Masterplan
with the view of developing a new Masterplan which will take the Airport
forward for the next twenty years.
The current plan has guided development of the Airport for the past five years.
The new plan will reflect the significance of the Airport and will document
Council's long term vision for the use of the Airport site.
The key objectives of the Ballarat Airport Masterplan 2010-2030 are to:
review and update the current Masterplan;
consider the future requirements of the Ballarat Airport with regard
• to aviation and other development;
ensure that development in and around the airport precinct is well
considered and appropriate;
understand and document the constraints and opportunities at
• the airport;
review the existing status of the airport with regard to aviation use,
community club use and other uses; and
develop a land use plan for the Airport which considers current and
• future requirements.
The aim is to complete the draft Ballarat Airport Masterplan 2010-2030
by May 2011 and finalise the document by July 2011.
