Home' My Ballarat : My Ballarat February 2011 Contents Ballarat Harmony Fest 2011
Ballarat will mark Cultural Diversity Week 2011 and celebrate "All of Us" with
a spectacular Harmony Fest to take place on Friday 18 March in the CBD.
Harmony Fest will provide an opportunity for the whole Ballarat community
to celebrate our own unique way of life and affirm our belief in the right for
all Australians to live without fear of racial and religious discrimination.
Ballarat's increasing cultural diversity and openness are recognised as key
factors in its position as a growth city of Victoria. The Harmony Fest will
explore and celebrate what it is to be a member of Ballarat's wonderful and
diverse community and provide a learning and development opportunity
for many of the individuals, performers, businesses, schools and cultural
organisations that will participate.
Harmony Fest will explore and share stories, skills, music, dance, food and
beliefs and will address issues of isolation and connection that can affect
any member of any community, regardless of culture or language.
An exciting program of entertainment has been put together by local and
metro cultural groups and is produced and presented by Multicultural Arts
Victoria. Council encourages all members of the community to join in and
spread the word.
Date: Friday 18 March
Time: 4.30 -- 10pm
Location: Phoenix Mall, between Myer and the Town Hall
