Collections will include quills and pens, vintage calculators, computers, hand
tools, vintage cars and classroom memorabilia. Many experts, including
calligraphers, spinners and weavers and specialist heritage tradesmen will
be on hand to give demonstrations of these rare skills. The Ballarat Airport
will also feature a small collection of antique aeroplanes and rides on the
flight training simulator will also be available. Visitors will also have a chance
to learn the history of the Ballarat Orphanage.
School yard games
For the young at heart there will be traditional school yard games to participate
in at Dana Street Primary School.
A schedule of frequent tours and talks will be running in and around Ballarat
across the weekend.
Join a walking tour and learn things you may have never known about Ballarat's
amazing architectural significance and stories of intriguing past inhabitants.

Buninyong and the Ballarat Botanical Gardens to enable visitors to move
The vintage and classic cars will be on show again and this year they are
joining with Ballarat District Nursing to feature a selection of historic nursing
vehicles, uniforms and other memorabilia to celebrate the Ballarat District
Mining Exchange exhibitions
Many local heritage groups and associations as well as other local groups
will display collections and projects relating to the theme. Each of the groups
will be available to answer questions throughout the weekend.
Steam train rides
Experience the sight, sound and smell of the mighty 1889 vintage Y112 and
a 1940s K class steam locomotive as it takes you on a nostalgic joy ride
to Sulky and back. Steam Rail Victoria will run frequent shuttles each day.
Tickets can be purchased on the platform.
Horse and carriage rides
Transport yourself back in time to an era when elegant ladies and gentlemen
took the air in their own carriages. You'll have an opportunity to survey the
buildings and streetscapes of Ballarat as you relax in an 1800s style horse
drawn carriage. Rides are free.
Vintage bus rides
Take a 25 minute leisurely ride in a superbly maintained 1938 American Diamond
T vintage bus around the streets of Ballarat and see the town's many features
through the window of yesteryear's mode of transport. Rides are free.
Vintage tram rides
Bird life and boats are back on Lake Wendouree. Take a nostalgic vintage tram
ride along Wendouree Parade and stroll through the Ballarat Botanical Gardens
or enjoy a coffee along the foreshore of Lake Wendouree. Rides are free.
