Works are now complete on the $1.4 million
Alfredton Village Green project and a healthy
mix of sunshine and rain will see it ready for
match play in summer.
The project will deliver a second playing
surface for Australia Rules football, soccer,
and cricket at the green, with grass
continuing to be established and maintained
during the winter. Lights were installed
mid-April, with additional electrical works to

will play home to a number of junior teams
in the growing Ballarat West area. Drought
tolerant grass and training lights mean the
new oval will be able to be used year-round
for training and match play.
An Alfredton Village Green pavilion is
expected to be delivered in the 2012-13
SPORT & RECREATION
The playspace at Alexander Park in Learmonth
is ready for play with an impressive upgrade,
opened to the public in March.
The project is a partnership between the City
of Ballarat, Friends of Learmonth, Learmonth
Football and Netball Club, and the Lake
Learmonth Advisory Committee.
The upgraded Alexander Park features:
• a new children's play space
• a new Youth Activity Space
• realignment and renewal of fencing to the
recreation reserve and for vehicle control
• creation of new pathways in the area
• renewal of the existing BBQ shelter
• tree works
• reconfigured parking arrangements.
The project was funded by the Federal
Government's Regional and Local Community
Infrastructure Program ($100,000) and the City
of Ballarat ($40,000).
Also in Learmonth, improvements have been
made to the eastern foreshore playspace and the
playspace in the recreation reserve.

Works on the Main Pavilion at the Ballarat
Regional Soccer Facility at Morshead Park
are progressing well.
The concrete slab has been poured and block
works are underway on the ground level.
When completed, the pavilion will house:
• six change rooms and amenities
• match official change rooms
• public toilets
• first aid room.
The project is valued at $3.5 million and is
due for completion by October 2012.
