City of Ballarat voters will have their say
on local government issues with municipal
elections to be held in October.
There will be elections for nine Councillors to
three wards, with three Councillors elected
in the North Ward, three in the South Ward
and three in the Central Ward. Councillors are
elected for a four-year term.
How will the election be conducted?
The ballot will be conducted by the Victorian
Electoral Commission as a postal election.
This means that everyone who was registered
on the voters' roll at Friday 31 August will have
a ballot pack mailed to them between 9 and

Voting is compulsory at Council elections if you
are under 70 years of age and are on the State

The election office for Ballarat City Council is
located at Level 2 Central Square Shopping

will be open to the public and candidates from

The Ballarat Seniors Festival has a new look this
year with an exciting Festival Hub at the Ballaarat
The Hub, open from 6 to 9 October, will be a great
place to relax and enjoy a range of entertainment,
demonstrations, exhibitions, displays,
performances and information sessions.
The theme of this year's festival, Celebrating
Life - Age is just a state of mind, aims to positively
influence people's perception of ageing and
encourage broader community participation.

In celebration of the Victorian Seniors Festival,
there will be free travel on metro trains, trams and
buses and regional town bus-services from
7 to 14 October for Victorian Seniors Card Holders.
V/Line buses and trains will be free for card
holders on 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14 October.
Some local transport will require pre-bookings.

2012. The Ballaarat Mechanics'
Institute is at 117 to 119 Sturt St.
Coffee, tea and light refreshments will
be available at the Hub.
