When the University of Ballarat Technology
Park was established in 1995, few would have
predicted the positive impact that it would have
upon the University, Ballarat and the regional
community. The Park is a 29 hectare site that
hosts a diverse range of IT enterprises and
The Technology Park is committed to its mantra
'where innovation and enterprise unite' and
provides an environment where individuals and
enterprises can thrive and prosper.
Over the past two years the University has been
planning its stage two expansion of the Park.
Twenty-two hectares of land has been rezoned
between the Mt Helen Campus and the existing
Technology Park, enabling the University to offer
another 11 development sites.
The expansion would effectively double the size of
the existing Park across the next 10 to 15 years.
Ultimately, it could deliver another 1600 jobs and
an additional $420 million in economic outputs.
Many of the employees of the Technology Park
live within the Mt Helen community and value and
cherish the ability to work and live within such an
University of Ballarat --
Mt Helen Campus
The University of Ballarat is Australia's third oldest
tertiary institution. It was established in 1870 as
the School of Mines and Industries in response to
the gold rush.
The University of Ballarat's Mt Helen campus
is home to most of the University's higher
education programs. Study can be undertaken in
50 specialised areas across 7 schools including
business, science and information technology. A
new Science and Engineering Precinct is currently
under construction and will open in 2013.
The Mt Helen campus features a large array of
sporting and leisure facilities including library,
indoor swimming pool/aquatic centre, indoor and
outdoor tennis courts, an all-weather athletics
track, two gymnasiums, a weight training
studio,heat chamber, squash courts, a canoeing
lake, several sports fields and picturesque walking
tracks. The gym, pool and gymnastics facilities
are open to community members on a fee paying

Mount Helen is a beautiful township on the outskirts of Ballarat. Mt Helen combines 949 homes
(median house price: $335,000) with wide open spaces and commercial zones which include the
University of Ballarat and the Technology Park.
